Successful start to the semester: We welcome our first-year students!
17.10.2024
On 1 October, the new students at the Düsseldorf and Berlin campuses were given a warm welcome by the university management and administration. After the kick-off, they went straight to the departments at both locations, where the first-semester students were given exciting insights into their degree programmes, the diverse campus life and upcoming projects. The introduction to the administrative areas - from student ID cards to the use of IT - ensured a smooth start. The student representatives and their respective teams also introduced themselves. The students were able to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere over lunch.
The afternoon offered a first look at the lecture content, supplemented by project presentations from the higher semesters. A special highlight was the rally through the neighbourhood of the two campuses, which gave a first impression of the area with the help of creative games. Where can you eat well during the breaks? Where do students chill out by the water after a day at university? And in which shop can the designers get hold of last-minute materials and office supplies for spontaneous projects?
In Berlin, the semester kick-off party on campus continued immediately afterwards. While karaoke was sung upstairs and Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros were played at two gaming stations, there was a bar, a cocktail stand, beer pong tables and music downstairs. In Düsseldorf, things continued on 4 October with a colourful flea market and the big Welcome (Back) Party. The stalls offered everything from clothing and mangas to camera lenses, and there was a lively atmosphere. In the evening, students celebrated the start of the new semester with music, snacks and a lively atmosphere. A photo box and ‘Just Dance’ provided plenty of fun moments, while old and new students networked with each other.
It was a great way to start the new academic year full of energy together!
The entire mdh team welcomes all new students to our campuses and wishes you a wonderful, successful time at university!
