1. Pioneering role and innovative strength

Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences was one of the first universities in Germany to establish degree programmes in game design, film animation and digital media. Since the 1990s, we have focussed on innovative teaching formats and technological integration - from satellite teaching to AI-supported learning. This early focus has made us a pioneer for future-oriented degree programmes at the interface of creativity and technology.

We also traditionally attach great importance to the career prospects of our students and so every degree programme is always designed with the market in mind; with a game design degree, for example, you don't necessarily have to become a game developer - you are also a gamification expert and therefore a sought-after candidate for jobs in software development, product or service design, marketing or UX design.

2. Modern locations with a creative atmosphere

Study where innovation happens: Our campus locations in Düsseldorf at the Media Harbour and in the centre of Berlin offer an inspiring environment with state-of-the-art facilities - perfect for creative work and networking.

3. First-class lecturers with a passion for their subject

Learn from experienced experts from the field who are passionate about teaching and bring their knowledge directly from the industry. Our lecturers are not only teachers, but also mentors who support you individually. They are doers and know what the industry demands of young talent. One example: Fashion Management Professor Natascha von Hirschhausen has her own successful zero waste fashion label.

4. Practical teaching with real projects

Theory meets practice: In cooperation with renowned companies such as BMW, ICON, Indigo, Huawei, La Bande or BSR Berlin and through real-life projects, you will gain valuable experience and contacts during your studies. This allows you to build your portfolio and start your career with a competitive advantage. Excursions, workshops and campus events provide you with additional important impulses for discovering your skills and talents.

5. Networking and cooperation with the creative industry

Through mdh, you can take part in industry-relevant events and make valuable contacts - e.g. at Berlin Fashion Week, at keynote speaker events or panel talks on campus or at gaming events, e.g. in cooperation with our subsidiary, the renowned Games Academy. Our close connection to the industry opens doors to the media and tech world.

6. International cooperation with top universities

Through our worldwide partnerships with leading universities in China, the USA, Brazil and New Zealand, you will have the opportunity to gain international experience and expand your knowledge globally. In 2025, the renowned Tongji University founded a Berlin campus at our location. Students and lecturers have a lively exchange with Hunan Normal University, most recently our professor Sybille Schmitz with a course in China. And students on our IT programmes can study for one or more semesters at Whitecliffe College in Auckland, New Zealand, at any time.

7. campus life & feel-good programmes

The mdh campuses regularly organise parties and activities for internal and external networking. Whether it's the winter market, casino night, Halloween party, workshops in the workshops, panel talks or playtests - there's always something going on here!

In addition, mdh actively promotes the mental and physical health of its students through a varied programme of cooking and nutrition courses, sports activities, yoga and meditation. International collaborations and exchange programmes strengthen intercultural skills and create an inclusive learning environment. Personal development is supported by programmes such as the University Travel Club and access to university sports.

8. Competitions and awards - funded by mdh

We support your talent! mdh pays the entry fees for prestigious competitions such as the GamesPreis or the ADC Award. This allows you to demonstrate your skills and gain valuable recognition.
