Thomas Steinbrück: From International Runways to Mediadesign University

Since early 2024, Thomas Steinbrück has been working as an academic associate at Mediadesign University (mdh). His expertise in Design Management, Innovative Design Thinking, and Fashion Management enriches the university's academic offerings, providing students a unique opportunity to learn from an internationally renowned figure in design.

A Glimpse into Thomas Steinbrück’s Impressive Career 

Thomas Steinbrück is known for his creative impulses and innovative ideas, which have left a lasting impact on the fashion industry. Following his education at the prestigious Parisian fashion schools, Studio Berçot and École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Steinbrück began his impressive career as an assistant to legendary designer Gianfranco Ferré at Christian Dior. There, he gained deep insights into the art of couture design, laying the foundation for his subsequent success.

In New York, he worked closely with Geoffrey Beene and subsequently founded his own fashion label, earning him the prestigious Moët & Chandon Designer Debut Award in 2000. His versatility extended beyond fashion; at BMW, he contributed as a trend, color, and style consultant, significantly shaping the company’s visual brand identity.

He showcased his leadership skills as Vice President of Merchandising and Design at Kenneth Cole in New York, and later as Vice President of Collections at Elie Saab in Paris. In both roles, he revolutionized brand identities through innovative and luxurious designs.

In 2011, Steinbrück was appointed Creative Director of the Porsche Design Group. Under his guidance, the brand underwent a remarkable transformation and established itself globally as a luxury label. His success at New York Fashion Week notably enhanced Porsche Design's international acclaim.

Further career milestones led him to Reebok as International Creative Director, successfully repositioning the brand with a fresh, dynamic identity. Since 2020, he has been residing in Berlin, most recently serving as Creative and Brand Director at the streaming service JOYN.
