‘Now more than ever!’... say the organisers of the Berliner Salon this year. They are encouraging themselves and the audience, because times have become tougher for fashion in Berlin. All the more impressive is the setting in which the selected designers each present two looks from their collections. The spacious halls of the Bode Museum serve as a historical backdrop for the extravagant outfits of the exhibited brands. Many of them are newcomers, all of them are committed to craftsmanship and sustainability. The culture clash succeeds and the tour along the paintings and sculptures is like a short voyage of discovery from designer:in to designer:in.

One of the selected artists is our lecturer Natascha von Hirschhausen. She is not a newcomer, but a designer who has been consistently committed to sustainability for years. International recognition proves her right and honours her high-quality designs in many contexts. No wonder that Christiane Arp (editor-in-chief of Deutsche Vogue from 2003 to 2020), curator of the salon, has invited Natascha v.H. once again. Further insights into Berlin Fashion Week 2024 can be found in the interview with our professor Nina Hein from rbb.
